Regina

I saw this first over at Alison Stine's blog, and, man, I was so totally digging it.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for strings.

By the way, I've still been listening to Iron & Wine and Calexico's "He Lays in the Reins," and I'm looking for new music recommendations, so if you have some, please, send them my way. And Fringes, John Denver is fine and all, but I'm looking for something new.

Bright Eyes: I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning. 2005

Morcheeba: specifically, "Women Lose Weight" feat. Slick Rick. Trigger Hippie and The Sea are good tracks as well. Morcheeba is not all that new, but maybe the band is new to you.

You're such a smart ass. No John Denver, indeed.

Bright Eyes is okay. I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Raconteurs. And my favorite overexposed sellout band is the Killers. What can I say, I'm a follower.

Fringes--I went through my Bright Eyes phase back when "I'm Wide Awake.." and "Digital Age..." came out, but thanks for the reminder: I haven't put the three or four songs I really like from each of those albums on my iPod yet.

And, no, I haven't heard of Morcheeba, so they are definitely new to me. I'll check them out. Tell me: Do they sound at all like John Denver?

Rebecca--My brother just yesterday was telling me to listen to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. And I loved the Raconteurs album, which my brother burned for me and then later removed from my truck, because he'd lost his copy.

I still haven't ever listened to the Killers. So many bands starting with "The" lately, I get them all confused.

I can't really identify Morcheeba's sound except to say it's nothing like JD and nothing like the Regina girlie you fell in love with on YouTube.

Mike's interview is up. Don't you have a few things you can be working on?

There's been a lot of great CDs by some of my favorite indie bands out this last month: check out The Hold Steady's Boys and Girls in America, The Decemberists's The Crane Wife, The Mountain Goats's Get Lonely, and The Long Winters's Putting the Days to Bed. All great CDs.

I'm all for something new, but you'll never go wrong with classic Prince.....

I agree. Classic Prince is fantastic.

It's a bit of an odd recommendation, though, anonymous. How did you know about my history with Prince?

Hmm...well...let's just say we discussed our mutual appreciation for him many years ago, around the time you let me cheat off your Chemistry test...

Oh, and just to be clear: I'm not the "anonymous" who apparently pees in the sink.

I had a hunch this anonymous was someone familiar with Logansport. (That other anonymous, the one who pees in the sink, is my wife...she always lets me know when she's commenting).

I think I know who you are, but I demand you out yourself. You can find my email address on my profile. Now go and do it. I'd be glad to hear from you.
